One of the Livery Companies of the City of London. ranked at 12th in the order of precedence (that of the Shearmen previously).

Its motto is Da Gloriam Deo, (Give Glory to God).

  • 1480 Fullers’ Company incorporated..
  • 1508 Shearmen’s Company incorporated.
  • 1528 With the amalgamation of the Fullers’ Company and the Shearmen’s Company the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers incorporated by Royal Charter
  • 1532 Ordinances of The Clothworkers’ Company, first issued, signed by Sir Thomas More, sought to regulate clothworking, to maintain standards and to protect approved practices

Supports the independent charity the Clothworkers' Foundation.

Its hall is in Dunster Court: the present building, completed in 1958, is the sixth on the site.

Notable members of the Company include King James I, Samuel Pepys, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Angela Burdett-Coutts, 1st Baroness Burdett-Coutts, George Peabody, Sydney Waterlow, Edward VII, Lord Kelvin, William Slim, 1st Viscount Slim, Robert Menzies and the Duke of Kent.
