Winifred Katz (née Clifton) (1889-1973).

Born in East Dulwich, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Clifton. Her father became a warden at Arundel Castle in Sussex.

She moved to London, settling in Clapham, and working as a primary school teacher.

She married Austrian born Jacques Katz in Wandsworth in 1917.

Elected as a Labour Party Member of the London County Council in 1958 to represent Wandsworth, Clapham, but lost her seat in 1961.
