William Æneas Smith was a mechanical engineer and radical politician.
A founder member of the Metropolitan Radical Federation (MRF). The MRF was a left wing faction of the Liberal Party and Smith was also a member of the Eleusis Club, the leading radical club in London at King's Road, Chelsea.
The MRF supported his election to the first London Council in 1889, when he was elected as a councillor for Chelsea. He joined the majority Progressive Party. He was re-elected in 1892 but resigned from the county council on 31 January 1893.
