Thomas Hunter (born 1842 - 2 March 1929) was a lodging house keeper and politician.

Born in Devizes, Wiltshire, he was the son a Scottish-born gardener, Samuel Hunter and his wife Sarah.

He moved to Southwark, marrying Emma Brown in Newington in 1863 and was a licensed lodging house keeper by 1871. By 1896 he had moved to Brixton.

He was a member of the London County Council representing Southwark West from 1892-1919: as a Labour Progressive Party councillor from 1892-1907 and a Progressive Party councillor thereafter.

Following the death of his first wife, he married Mary Emma Jerman in 1912. They moved to Tooting, where he died in 1929, aged 86.
