Sutton and Cheam is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The current MP is Paul Burstow of the Liberal Democrats, first elected at the 1997 general election. Historically, the constituency is best known for a huge 32.6% swing to the Liberal Party in a 1972 by-election.
