St George's Hospital is a major teaching hospital now located in Tooting but originally situated at Hyde Park Corner.

The hospital dates from 1733, when it was founded at Lanesborough House at Hyde Park Corner. In 1859 the hospital was left a large sum of money by one of its governors, Atkinson Morley, allowing them to build a daughter institution, the Atkinson Morley Hospital in Wimbledon, which opened in 1869.

By the end of World War Two it was clear that the hospital would need to find a new site due to lack of space. In 1950 the site of a former fever hospital in Tooting was acquired. Building at the new site started in 1973, and the transfer of all services was completed in 2003.

The former medical school is now St George's, University of London, a constituent college of the University of London.
