South Woodford Underground Station is on the London Underground Central Line (Epping Branch) in the London Borough of Redbridge in South Woodford E18, in Travelcard Zone 4.


The station opened as South Woodford (George Lane) on the 22 August 1856 on the Eastern Counties Railways which makes it one of the oldest stations operated on the network. After various reassignments it was transferred to the Central Line on 14 December 1947.
