Samuel Cresswell (1852-19 September 1937) was a school teacher and local politician.

Born in Derbyshire, by 1881 he was an elementary school teacher in Wandsworth.

In 1897 he unsuccessfully sought election to the London School Board as an "Independent Moderate".

Three years later he won a seat as a member of the Moderate Party, representing Lambeth West. He was described as a "retired schoolmaster" and a "staunch Conservative".

He was subsequently an alderman on Wandsworth Borough Council, holding this office at the time of his death in 1937, aged 84. He was Mayor of Wandsworth in 1926-27. He was buried in Wandsworth Cemetery [1].
