Created 1900 by the London Government Act 1899, from Eltham (Lee District Board of Works) and the vestries of Plumstead and Woolwich. (vestry). It was abolished in 1965, becoming part of the London Borough of Greenwich, with some parts, north of the River Thames - including North Woolwich going to the London Borough of Newham.
