John Wilfrid Bateman (18 September 1890 - 28 July 1958)

Born in Streatham, he was the son of John Henry Bateman, a general merchant, and his wife Emily Jane Leighton.

Bateman became a mercantile clerk, and was resident in Tulse Hill in the Metropolitan Borough of Lambeth.

From 1952-58 he was a Conservative Party member of the London County Council representing Lambeth Norwood.
