A station on the District Line in Travelcard Zone 6. Mainline services began 1 May 1885, being withdrawn 1962, and underground 2 June 1902.

The station is named after the town of Hornchurch in which it is situated approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the high street. The station is located on Station Lane in the London Borough of Havering and is surrounded by a cluster of shops.
