Guy Herbert Walmisley, MC (1893- 5 February 1960).

The son of Herbert William Walmisley, "gentleman" (painting here, of Wallington, Surrey, and Zillah Maud, née Bickerton. Educated at Harrow School and Christchurch, Oxford, where he was a cadet in the Officer Training Corps. With the outbreak of war in 1914 he received a temporary commission in the Royal Engineers signal section, subsequently reaching the rank of captain in what became the Royal Corps of Signals. He was awarded the Military Cross in 1916.

He entered local politics as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council in 1922 representing Deptford. He was defeated at the 1925 elections when the Labour Party gained his seat. He remained on the council, however, sitting as an alderman from 1925-1931.
