Dr Esther Rickards (13 July 1893 - 8 February 1977) was a surgeon and Labour Party politician.

Born in Paddington, she was the daughter of John Edward Rickards, a veterinary surgeon and Annie née Somers. She wished to become a vet herself, but women were not permitted to take up the profession and she trained in medicine instead. She was educated at the Regent Street Polytechnic, Birkbeck College, the London School of Medicine and St Mary's Hospital. She maintained her interest in animals, breeding cocker spaniels for thirty years.

A member of the London County Council from 1928-46: as an alderman from 1928-34 and representing Greenwich from 1934-46. Awarded the OBE in 1966.
