Canon Charles Edward Brooke (8 July 1847 - 1 July 1911) was a High Church Anglican clergyman.
The fifth son of Thomas Brooke of Honley near Huddersfield, Yorkshire, he was educated at University College, Oxford, graduating in 1869.
Ordained a deacon in 1871 and a priest in 1872, he was appointed curate of St John the Divine, Kennington. He remained in that parish for the rest of his life, becoming vicar in 1881.
Member of the London School Board, elected for Lambeth 1882, he served two terms, retiring from the board in 1888.
He was made an honorary canon of Rochester Cathedral in 1900. When the Diocese of Southwark was formed in 1905 he became canon of the newly-constituted Southwark Cathedral.
Founded a school of which Saint Gabriel's College, Camberwell [1] is the successor and also set up St Gabriel's Training College for Women Teachers in Cormont Road.
