Barbican Underground Station is on London Underground Metropolitan Line, Circle Line and Hammersmith and City Line in the City of London in Barbican EC1, Travelcard Zone 1
History[]
Opened on 23 December 1865. Known as Aldersgate Street until 1910, Aldersgate 1910-23, Aldersgate & Barbican 1923-68. There were also National Rail services (one of the lines out of Moorgate Station which closed in 2009 – the platforms remain however. There is street level and high level access (known as the London Pedway, partly built in the 60s) to the Barbican Centre and the Museum of London.
