Anthony William Bays (6 February 1951 - 24 February 2024) was a train ticket inspector and Conservative Party councillor.[1]

Bays was a member of the Greater London Council representing Upminster from 1981 until the council's abolition in 1986. He was a member of Lambeth Borough Council as a councillor for Streatham South Ward in 1974-78, and from 1990 until he lost the seat to the Labour Party in 1998.

He was elected as a member of Guildford Borough Council in Surrey in May 2003, but resigned shortly afterwards when an investigation was launched into his handling of postal votes. In April 2004 he pleaded guilty to forging two ballot papers, and was sentenced to four months imprisonment.[2]

He subsequently stood unsuccessfully for election to Lewisham London Borough Council at Sydenham Ward in 2006, 2018 and 2022.
